Carbon Forum goes international with Uganda Museum Project

In a major departure from our usual territory Carbon Forum have undertaken to design and manage the implementation of a new Climate Change exhibition for the National Museum of Uganda, in Kampala. The exhibition will introduce climate change, its history and potential impacts with an emphasis on how these issues are important from a Ugandan perspective. Sections of the exhibition will focus on specific areas of life, such as the home, transport, agriculture and entrepreneurial opportunities.

This is a very exciting project and requires us to take a fresh look at many of the issues associated with climate change and energy use - the energy saving and carbon reduction advice we regularly give to UK audiences doesn't fit so well in a country where the average carbon footprint is 0.1 tonnes (the UK average is about 10 tonnes and the US average is close to 20). and the typical lifestyle, occupation and pattern of energy use is very different.

Carbon Forum provide Staff Training to Herefordshire Council Officers

Carbon Forum are currently working with Herefordshire Council on an EST funded project to raise energy awareness and inspire action on climate change across the county.

Over the last month Richard Hammerton has been running a series of two hour staff training sessions for the officers of Herefordshire Council. The sessions are intended to raise energy awareness and carbon literacy throughout the Council, and include topics such as Climate Change & Energy Issues, Carbon Footprinting, Renewable Technologies, Energy Efficiency, Transport and Food. They are delivered to a diverse range of participants from across all of the teams in the Council.

Each one begins with a talk from Richard to introduce the subject followed by a specially developed workshop activity where participants get to grips with some of the most important issues and learn more about the subject of the session.

All of the sessions have been very well received and the early feedback comments we have had reflect this:

"I am greatly enjoying your training sessions"

"I have found it really valuable already and have briefed up in the organisation"

In keeping with Carbon Forum's low carbon message Richard has travelled to all of the sessions using public transport.

Herefordshire 121 Project

Carbon Forum are currently working with Herefordshire Council on a project funded by
the Energy Saving Trust through their 1-2-1 project. The aim of the project is
to promote energy and climate change awareness throughout the communities of
Herefordshire, as a county-wide boost for the Herefordshire carbon reduction
and climate change strategy.

Hereford

We are achieving the aims of this ambitious project through a broad range of
activities, delivering training to Council staff and directors, running workshops
for schoolchildren and energy advice for the teachers, leading group
discussions with community groups and providing advice and free bulbs to the
general public through Light Fantastic.
